I joined TV-am in 1989 and began my career as a studio cameraman on the live breakfast programme. Previously I had worked on local news and short documentaries but this was my introduction to working with full sized studio cameras (and the Marconi camera was big) mounted on Vintern pedestals. It certainly offered the opportunity to work on a wide variety of subjects from Rustie Lee doing her cooking spots, Lizzie Webb and her exercises routines to the craziness of Wacaday and Timmy Mallet. With a 05.00 a.m. call time and being on air at 06.00 there was little time for rehearsals. Even live musical performance were set up and rehearsed during commercial breaks and the News bulletins from Studio B.
I still enjoy working on studio camera, in fact I am looking forward to clocking up my twentieth year in 2009!
I also operate remote cameras using Rademac heads. Most of my work again has been on live programmes usually operating four cameras. For further details of my career please view my Clients List.
As well as my television work I do filming for corporate videos, usually as a lighting cameraman and generally using DV and HDV cameras.
